WFEA 2019 App Submission

Chocolate on the Beach Festival

2019 Mobile App

Here are some images and descriptions of our Mobile App, built by Owen Marketing GROUP.

Because our rural community event spans 13 miles, we wanted to provide you some insight as to the logic behind our mobile app.  You can also download the current version of our Mobile App from iTunes or the Google Play store, just search for Chocolate on the Beach Festival.

Unfortunately I do not have an Apple iDevice so I cannot give you the specific URL for the Mobile App in iTunes, but it can be found by searching the iTunes store.

The Android version can be downloaded at or seaching the Google Play store.

Our theme for the 2019 Chocolate on the Beach Festival was Chocolate is Out of This World, a Sci-Fi theme.  We used Alien Green for all of our marketing in 2019, it really pops on the mobile device.

Our Unique Opportunities

Chocolate on the Beach Festival is a 4-day Festival spanning 13 Miles through 5 communities on the rural Washington coast.  Being in unincorporated Grays Harbor County, we do not have any venues large enough to house the whole event.  Because our festival goers have to drive from one venue to another, we took this opportunity to encourage them to go into our local businesses and bolster our local economy.

Our Mobile App design began with an appropriate icon to depict our Festival. We thought this Chocolate Square worked nicely.

This is our Loading Screen, keeping with our Sci-Fi Theme for 2019.

For the Home Screen of the app, we decided to use Sci-Fi icons for our main navigation.

For our general app navigation on sub-pages, we used Alien Heads.  This is our Calendar of Events.

The goal of our Festival is to support our local communities.  We do this through grants and encouraging our Festival-goers to make purchases at participating businesses.  This is the sub-page for our People’s Choice.  Festival-goers can go to local restaurants, bars, and espresso stands to purchase their competing items and vote for their favorite.  The Festival-goers must purchase from 3 different businesses in any sub-category in order for their vote to count.  When the user selects any one of the categories they see a list of the participating businesses with Festival Partners being at the top of the list and highlighted.  When the user selects a specific business they see a list of items that the business is competing with as well as a “Tap to Navigate” button which will open up the map and navigation on the user’s device.

In the sub page navigation, we included Sponsor and Partner logos whenever we had the chance.

Of course, it is also very important for us to keep our Festival Partners happy!
